Versatility of Made-to-Measure Door Canopies
Our Millennium Door Canopy
This blog post highlights the versatility of one of our all-metal door canopy designs – the Millennium. Our standard Millennium is built to a height of 390mm and widths ranging from 1300mm to 1510mm, and traditionally has a sleek curved eyebrow shape. This canopy, however, can also be made with a flat edge on one end (the mono) and with a specific radius. These options allow the canopy to be made to fit into corner areas and to fit perfectly over arched doorways.
The below photograph shows one of our mono canopy designs. The customer wanted their canopy to span across from the flank wall to the window on the far side of their front door. Clad in black anthracite zinc, this mono canopy was even made to fit around an existing downpipe:
The curved design of this canopy also means it is possible for us to adapt the radius. This can be seen in the two canopies below with the natural zinc canopy looking more rounded with a smaller radius than the flatter look of the copper canopy.
Our first venture into a bespoke radius was for a customer in Cornwall looking for a bespoke copper canopy to be made that would follow the arch of their doorway.
Although we have different methods to do this, for this particular project the customer supplied us with a simple template of the arch above their doorway. Along with some dimensions showing the size of the doorway, we could then use this template to construct the canopy.
Once we shipped the canopy, the customer then arranged to have the canopy mounted over the front door of their house themselves. This included fitting the two circlet brackets either side of the canopy. Since then, we have gone on to create more bespoke versions of our Millennium. As you can see from the pictures below, the canopy has been made to exactly follow the arch of the brickwork surrounding the doorway.
