Refurbishment Project

Bespoke Zinc Canopy in Reading

We were recently contacted by a lady from Reading. She explained that she lived in a street where all the houses had lovely veranda-type porches. While most had been dismantled, hers was still there but the stanchions had been removed.

She contacted the local council for advice who pointed out that ZAC had already refurbished a number of porches locally. She contacted us and asked if we could help with her problem. Luckily, there was some examples of original stanchions in the street.

We set to work designing a porch to match the original design. The client was very happy with this, although she was keen on adding a couple of curved glass panels. I told her we could get some bespoke glass made for her. After hearing this, she asked us to proceed.

We had a scaffold erected and then removed the old canopy. All the timber plates needed to be replaced as they were rotten.

We manufactured a new frieze and stanchions in our workshop. All the frame and steelwork was then powder coated with a BS.D1036 heat finish.

All done. Another example of ZAC’s exemplary work.

A personal note…

In some of my past blogs I have mentioned that ZAC is a Leeds United player sponsor.

We have sponsored Gaetano Berardi for five years. I am very sad to say that Gaetano’s time at Leeds United has come to an end – unfortunately time catches up with all of us. From when I first met him when he could hardly speak a word of English.

I must say, he is a true professional and a real gentleman. Thank you for all your kindness, it has been a real honour to know you, our own lion man. We all wish you the best of luck in the future.
