The Benefits of Working by Hand

We are all back at work now and the Christmas break seems a long way away. I’m glad to be back working again; I was getting a bit bored with eating and running around after our guests!

The guys have been creating some stunning canopies this month.

This canopy was for Lord Snowdon’s old house and it matches sympathetically with the original canopy on this listed building. The panels have been curved both convexly and concavely by hand by our master tinsmiths. It has been lovingly covered with natural zinc with matching rolled caps, which should last another hundred years. Our canopies are ideal for Regency, Georgian, Victorian or any period restoration. We believe we are the only company to manufacture real traditional zinc and copper door canopies and porches, ideal for conservation areas. We love to manufacture beautiful ornate zinc and copper door canopies. However, we build our canopies for all types of houses, not just listed and period ones.

We were approached by a young lady in Warlingham in Surrey before Christmas. She wanted us to build a strong, simple, bespoke door canopy for her grandparents. Their previous plastic door canopy had been smashed by the wind and water was percolating into their front door, making the hallway wet. She asked if she could get it before Christmas as a surprise so just ten days later, it was erected by our installers. A beautiful, sustainable, bespoke Cotswold door canopy.
