Hi and welcome to ZAC’s July Blog.
Last year we were asked to manufacture zinc and copper work in our factory for a property in Kensington, London as part of a large renovation project.
The guys worked very hard creating some magnificent zinc and copper work, manufactured to their usual very high standards. I’ve included some pictures below of the canopies and domes manufactured in our factory and then fitted on site by our highly skilled tinsmiths.
This picture is of the front elevation of the property. It shows the restored circular dome and finial as well as the concave/convex canopy roof. The natural zinc has been treated with salt water to enhance the natural patina. This type of patina normally takes years to form on the zinc cladding. The patina forms a protective layer on the zinc increasing the longevity of the zinc, which can last over a 100 years.
Below are close shots of the dome and the finial.
The finished finial prior to delivery to site.
Below is a beautiful canopy veranda on the rear elevation of the property, this has been sympathetically restored by ZAC, using natural zinc.
In fact, I must say the builders have made a magnificent job of restoring the whole building externally and internally.
Finally, this fantastic copper segmental dome. When it was delivered to site it had to be craned into position in its entirety. This was a labour of love, hours of painstaking measuring, bending, curving, cutting and soldering. Truly a work of art fit to adorn any building.
I would like to say thank you to everyone involved in the manufacture and installation: Max, Simon, Dave, Ishmael, Peter, Jason and of course Vinny for all their hard work.
On a slightly more personal note, we have been a Leeds United official player sponsor since 2013.
After this year’s magnificent result, we are very pleased to be officially a premiership official player sponsor.
Over time, ZAC has formed a relationship with Leeds United. Obviously, our celebrations were muted this year and we had to forgo our usual trip to Thorp Arch (Leeds training ground) to meet the players. However, I was kindly invited to a small social distanced dinner. As part of the evening, I was given the opportunity to have my photo taken with the trophy.
