ZAC bespoke zinc veranda canopy project in Streatham
We have had some very unseasonal weather in April. It’s fair to say that a little bit of sunshine makes it a very pleasant job fitting our canopies. We are busy in the factory at the moment, we seem to have had a run on our English Heritage Belgravia door canopies. We are also very busy with verandas and porches, plenty of content for next month’s blog.
A couple of months ago a customer in Streatham, London, contacted us asking for our help to replace his corrugated metal porch roof. He felt it looked very unsightly and ruined the appearance of his property.
He gave me his address and I said, “I regularly drive up your road when traveling into London.
I will pop in and have a look; I am sure we can improve on those corrugated sheets.”
I suggested to him that it would be a good idea to replace the existing metal stanchions. Unfortunately, he wasn’t in a position to have them replaced at this time. I mocked-up a very rough drawing for him, which he liked so asked us to proceed.
We started by erecting scaffolding and removing the old, corrugated sheeting.
We installed a new timber plate as the old one had rotted away. We manufactured new powder coated steel rafters in the factory and then fitted them. The existing mortar joints were cut and chased, ready to receive the new purpose-made flashing.
Absolutely stunning – the finished Anthra zinc roof with matching bespoke gutter and flashing.
What is more gratifying is that I get to look at this lovley porch on my way into London in the mornings!
